What is a Basemap & Scope?

As part of our commitment to creating a landscape design that meets your unique needs and preferences, we’ve established a collaborative design process. An important early step involves approving two key items: the basemap and the project scope. Your designer will pull these two documents together and you will review and approve them in your design dashboard.

Reviewing and confirming these elements helps ensure alignment between you and your designer, setting the stage for a successful project.

The Basemap

The basemap serves as the foundation of your landscape design. It’s a visual representation of your property’s existing layout and conditions before any new design elements are added. This includes measurements, scale, and placement of property lines, as well as significant features like your home, garage, walkways, and trees. By verifying that the basemap is accurate, you allow your designer to work from a reliable blueprint, which is crucial for delivering a design that fits your space.

The Scope

The scope provides an overview of your project’s focus, based on the information you’ve shared in your design profile and video consultation. This document ensures that your designer has accurately captured your top priorities, goals, and concerns, and it establishes a shared understanding of the project’s direction. Approving the scope confirms that you and your designer are aligned before the detailed design work begins, allowing for a smoother and more efficient process moving forward.

Please Note: Any significant changes to the basemap or project scope after you have already approved them, may result in an added design fee to reflect the work needed to make these changes.
