How To Plant Henry's Garnet Virginia Sweetspire in Bulk

Henry's Garnet is a simple to grow Sweetspire that has only a few requirements. For the best growth and fruition, plant Henry in soil that is moist and humus-rich. This Sweetspire is adaptable to a wide array of different soils such as average soils that are well-draining. Be aware of any spreading and remove suckers if you desire a more contained plant.

      How To Water

Water twice weekly for the first 3-5 weeks; then water weekly for the remainder of the year until winter. When you water, water slowly and thoroughly. Watering needs may be altered due to extreme weather conditions.

      How To Fertilize

Incorporate Elements Starter Plant Food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant Food granular form on an annual basis each fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established.

      How To Prune

Your Sweetspire flowers on the previous years growth so prune it as soon as it is done flowering. Prune up to one third of the top growth. Any more that that and you could encourage aggressive suckering. If you want it to stay in place, simply remove the suckers that do appear each summer. Some people do a rejuvenation prune every few years by cutting it to three or four inches.
