Why plant Irish Yew?

One of the most prestigious of conifers, the Irish Yew. Tall, dense, and evergreen are three words that easily describe this royal vision. Each long stiff branch is covered in dark green needles that will last all throughout the dead of winter. Each female Yew will produce bright red cones that give off an interesting christmas theme with the dark needles. With this trees columnar shape, it'll give the look of an exclamation mark!

How to use Irish Yew in the landscape?

Irish Yews are great for specimen plantings on their own, against your house for a foundation planting, or use for short hedges.

Planting Zones

Hardiness Zone: 7-8

How To Plant Irish Yew

Plant the Irish Yew in somewhere with full sun and light shade, they prefer well-draining soil with even moisture.

How To Water

Water you Irish Yew regularly when young, once yews have become established they will not require as much watering.

How To Fertilize

Young Yew plants should be fed each spring, while more mature plants will do well with feeding every other year. We recommend using our very own Elements Starter Plant Food in granular form.

How To Prune

The ideal time to prune a yew hedge is in the early spring as it will start to grow again in April. Prune your Yew by cutting back each outgrown branch, you can even cut them to the old wood as they will be just fine.
