Why plant Poprocks® Petite Spirea?

Like many other Spirea varieties, the Poprocks® Petite Spirea is packed full of color and is ever-changing. This specific variety is a bit smaller, with even brighter pops of color! Sturdy, dark green foliage lasts throughout the year, while clusters of sparkling flowers arrive in the summer! Beautiful flowers, with hues of pinks and purples, supply many nutrients for local insects and critters, like songbirds and butterflies. The flowers also provide a sweet, bubblegum like scent! This spirea is a deciduous shrub that will take you on a ride of color explosions throughout every season!

As one of many Spirea varieties, Poprocks® Petite was cultivated for its beautiful color pops and it's cold hardiness. Loved by native pollinators and gardeners alike, this Spirea has been a favorite in the U.S. for many years. Choose one to spruce up your space, today!

How to use Poprocks® Petite Spirea in the landscape?

Poprocks® Petite Spirea is extremely adaptable and will work well anywhere in your landscape! Add one to a mix of pollinator plants and shrubs, or to create low growing borders to sidewalks and driveways! Easily managed and versatile, this petite shrub is truly one of a kind!

How To Plant Poprocks® Petite Spirea

This easy to grow Spirea can handle just about anything you throw at it other than shade or wet soil. Don't be concerned about pruning, in fact some people periodically cut theirs to the ground to rejuvenate the plant.

How To Water

After planting your Poprocks® you should water very thoroughly and keep an eye for the following weeks. You'll want to give a good soaking once a week during the summer unless you can rely on rainfall. Once your Spirea is established you can generally lessen your watering amount.

How To Fertilize

Established Spireas prefer when a light fertilizer is used. Our Elements Starter Plant Food is perfect for this type of plant! Sprinkle some of our granular plant food after planting and you won't have to again till next year!

How To Prune

Prune or shear your Spirea in late winter or early spring as the new growth starts to emerge. A light shearing after the first wave of flowers will encourage more flowers.
