Why plant Siberian Cypress?
An evergreen groundcover that’s a picture of grace! Siberian Cypress fills in blank spaces with refined, feathery foliage that’s soft to the touch. Lacy leaves radiate outward to form low swaths of lush greenery. Tolerant of part shade, this uncommon conifer is particularly useful in places that aren’t sunny enough for Junipers. In the cool climates it prefers, it is also tolerant of moderate drought, so it isn’t as delicate as it looks! Siberian Cypress spreads slowly but steadily to make a wide patch—give it room. Put it to work in your garden as a weed-suppressing soil stabilizer or an unusual underplanting.
Super-hardy! As you can guess from the name, Siberian Cypress is a cold weather–lover. It is indeed native to Siberia and can survive temperatures down to -50ºF. (It likes fire, too—fire is how stands are regenerated in the wild!) Siberian Cypress was first spotted in 1921 near Vladivostok, way up in the mountains above the treeline. However, the Soviets didn’t share the plant with the rest of the world until some 50 years later. When American gardeners finally got their hands on it, it caused quite a stir.
How to use Siberian Cypress in the landscape?
Use Siberian Cypress to create row edging pathways or decorating your homes outdoor conversation area. These incredibly soft evergreens work beautifully in planter boxes or planted in the ground as an evergreen groundcover. Siberian Cypress also give a beautiful waterfall look when planted on slanted hard to landscape places.

How To Plant Siberian Cypress
Siberian Cypress prefer well-drained soil somewhere they can reach sunlight for about four hours a day. Now if you live in a heavily populated deer area, you might want to invest in some deer repellent as those nasty creatures love snacking on these Cypress!
How To Water
Water twice weekly for the first 3-5 weeks; then water weekly for the remainder of the year until winter. When you water, water very slowly and very thoroughly. The water needs to reach to the bottom of the root ball and that takes time. Watering needs may be altered due to extreme weather conditions.
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant Food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant Food granular form on an annual basis each fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established as it gives your tree the nutrients it needs to produce lush new growth for the following spring.
How To Prune
You can prune this shrub to shape to your liking in spring, other than that this shrub is rather low maintenance.
