Why plant Sundrop™ Spirea?
Are you looking for a bold variety of color to spruce up your garden space? Look no further! The Sundrop™ Spirea will bring your landscape an illuminating show of colors every season! In early spring, the Spirea is brimming with a bright yellow foliage. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and many other pollinating friends join in once summer arrives with clusters of fragrant pink flowers! Finally, as fall emerges, the Spirea transforms into a green-tinted red leaf, and a fierce red stem! It's pretty much guaranteed that you'll leave your neighbors in awe of the show!
The Sundrop™ Spirea is one of many Spirea variations. Originally discovered in the northern portions of the US, it has continued to be cultivated and sought out thanks to its bright, bold colors! A huge benefit of the Spirea is it's hardy personality, making it perfect for colder temperatures! You won't regret this easily managed shrub as an addition to your garden!
How to use Sundrop™ Spirea in the landscape?
This deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub rounds off in a mounded form, and is extremely cold hardy - making it very easy to manage! It will only need one minor prune per year, recommended after the last cold front of the Winter season. As the Sundrop™ Spirea is fairly compact, it makes for a great border in a sunny location!

How To Plant Sundrop™ Spirea
This easy to grow Spirea can handle just about anything you throw at it other than shade or wet soil. Don't be concerned about pruning, in fact some people periodically cut theirs to the ground to rejuvenate the plant.
How To Water
After planting your Spirea, you should water very thoroughly and keep an eye for the following weeks. You'll want to give a good soaking once a week during the summer unless you can rely on rainfall. Once your Spirea is established, you can generally lessen your watering amount.
How To Fertilize
Established Spireas prefer when a light fertilizer is used. Our Elements Starter Plant Food is perfect for this type of plant! Sprinkle some of our granular plant food after planting and you won't have to again till next year!
How To Prune
Prune or shear your Spirea in late winter or early spring as the new growth starts to emerge. A light shearing after the first wave of flowers will encourage more flowers.
