    Why the Fragrant Snowbell?

A multi-season stunner, you will fall in love with how Fragrant Snowbell dresses up your landscape season after season. Bell-shaped white flowers dress up the spanning branches in an abundance of sweet-smelling bliss. You'll enjoy how this large shrub, small tree will liven up a patio or landscape with the crisp flowers and sweet fragrance. Fragrant Snowbell is also known for it's wonderful fall color when the green leaves turn striking shades of yellow to compliment the landscape.

Native to Japan, Styrax obassia is seen as a small rounded tree in the wild. These trees are known best for their bell-shaped flowers and sweet fragrance that wafts throughout the air, drawing attention, and the gray exfoliating bark that provides four season interest.

How to use in the landscape?

Fragrant Snowbell can be grown as a small tree or large shrub with a rounded habit. The spring brings with it the signature bell-shaped sweetly scented flowers that are nestled within the green foliage. In the fall, the leaves turn a striking shade of yellow that can make any landscape pop with color. The gray exfoliating bark is attractive year-round and provides ample winter interest.

    How To Plant

This snowbell will thrive best in a location full of moist, fertile, and humus-rich soil. You will want to ensure that the soil is well-draining as Fragrant Snowbell will not do well with wet feet. Be sure to locate in an area sees full sun or part shade. This location should also provide protection from cold, dry winds. Once established, water only as needed such as during dry spells.

    How To Water

Water deeply, and regularly during first few years in the ground to encourage a deep, extensive root system. Fragrant Snowbell will appreciate having the surface soil moist, but they don't like wet feet. Irrigate weekly, especially during prolonged dry spells or extreme heat after it’s established.

    How To Fertilize

Incorporate Elements Starter Plant food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant food granular form on an annual basis each late fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established.
