      Why plant Annabelle Hydrangea?

A hydrangea classic, Annabelle has been around since 1910 and decorating landscapes since then. Producing large white flower clusters that remain from June until snow covers the bush for the year. This is one hydrangea that you do not want to miss out on! Each flower cluster averages around a foot wide, tons of flowers for you and pollinators to enjoy all summer long! A reliable bush, you'll be able to enjoy new growth and large flower clusters every year, what a great hydrangea choice.

Native to eastern US, Hydrangea arborescent can be found on wooded slopes and stream banks where they thrive. Annabelle is a cultivar of native hydrangea that produces larger flower clusters and is deciduous in nature. This naturally occurring cultivar was originally discovered in the wild near the city of Anna, Illinois.

Annabelle is definitely the belle of the ball in your landscape! You'll want to make sure that you plant Annabelle in a location where everyone can see and enjoy the large bloom clusters bursting with white flowers. How To Plant Annabelle Hydrangea

Annabelle is an easy to grow hydrangea variety that can handle any soil pH as long as the soil drains well and there is not standing water. There are very little pruning requirements due to the flowers blooming on new wood each year so just cut the bush to the ground to start over. You'll want to prune in the spring before new growth sprouts up. Be sure that Annabelle is grown in a location that sees full sun or part shade, the sun allows for the bush to grow large and strong. Annabelle is going to need to be on a consistent watering schedule so Annabelle does not dry out.

      How To Water

When watering your Annabella Hydrangea you want to keep your soil moist but not saturated. Give your hydrangea a deep watering once weekly during extremely hot temperatures.

      How To Fertilize

Fertilize your Hydrangea once in spring with an encouraging fertilizer, we recommend using our Elements Starter Plant Food for that spring feeding.

      How To Prune

Prune your Annabelle Hydrangea in very early spring before they start to grow. It is considered best to cut the stems to about 24" in height. This leaves a sturdy framework to support that seasons flowers. Your Annabelle will flower on new wood. If desired you can do a light fall prune to clean up the spent flowers.
