Why plant Frontyard® American Linden?
Have you ever found yourself walking down the road, slowly becoming entranced by the most beautiful fragrance? There is a good chance you've fallen for the Frontyard® American Linden without even knowing what it was! Mature heights of 60-80’ tall and widths of 30-60’ make this a stunning shade tree to any landscape. The American Linden, in its younger years, sports a rather pyramidal growth habit that rounds out with maturity. Known for its heart shaped, dark green foliage, the Linden produces pale yellow clusters of delightfully fragrant blooms in early summer. Once the blooms have reached their end, small pea sized nutlets appear, gearing up to be an end of the season snack for small animals and birds!
How to use Frontyard® American Linden in the landscape?
The Frontyard® American Linden offers many qualities that any homeowner would adore in their landscape. This stately tree offers phenomenal shade and visually stunning blooms, matched with an enchanting fragrance. They offer tremendous wildlife value - from attracting bees and other pollinators, as a food source for birds, and provides a livable habitat. The Frontyard® American Linden provides tolerance to many challenges, some of which are drought, pollution, wind, and even fire. As mentioned before, this tree makes a perfect shade tree but we would love for you to consider this tree for street plantings, as a specimen, or a privacy screen. We can also offer different garden ideas for your Linden. These styles would include a butterfly garden, native garden, and pollinator gardens, just to name a few!

How To Plant Frontyard® American Linden
Growing the Frontyard® American Linden is super easy! This tree is capable of thriving in full or partial sun. Their adaptability to soil aids in the availability of locations to plant. This tree does best in soils with good drainage while maintaining moisture, the American Linden can also thrive in soils that are on the drier side as well!
How To Water
When watering your Frontyard® American Linden, it's best to keep the soil moist when first planted. Achieve this by watering deeply twice a week until established. Thereafter, watch your local weather during those hotter dry spells and water accordingly. Here at Bower and Branch, we want you to enjoy your trees for as long as you can with minimal work involved. This can be done with the help of our Elements Watering System. Fill it, set it, and enjoy!
How To Fertilize
The best time to fertilize your Frontyard® American Linden is in early spring, as the tree begins to break dormancy for the year! You should also fertilize in early fall, as your tree begins the fall transition - that way, it receives plenty of nutrients as it begins to go dormant for the year!
How To Prune
When it comes time to prune your Frontyard® American Linden, you need not worry! These trees are relatively low maintenance, only needing to be cleaned up from broken or damaged branches. You may accomplish this in fall or early winter after the leaf drop, or early spring before the flow of sap.

Shipping Delays:
From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
