Why plant Idared Apple Bare Root?
Idared is the apple that can be used for a plethora of different needs spanning from eating fresh, cooking, or just enjoying as an ornamental tree. The very juicy and flavorful apples make for a great nutritious and delicious snack for everyone in the family, or bake the crisp apples in a pie for a holiday dinner. These apples, with their sweet-tart flavor, make Idared a great apple for a multitude of uses without the worry of artificial fillers or excess sugar being consumed by your family.
Idared is from Idaho, but is not a potato! One of the most well-known plants from Idaho is the Idared Apple that is a cross between the Jonathon and Wagener apples. Introduced in the 1930's, Idared has taken off and become a popular growing and eating choice. That's not all! Idared has also sired other apple varieties, the most popular being Arlet and Fiesta. This is quite the apple tree!

How To Plant Idared Apple Bare Root
Idared is a very easy tree to keep happy - just provide a large, sunny area for it to grow tall and wide and most of the hard part is done. The soil should have good drainage, rich in nutrients, and preferably loamy for the best growth out of Idared. Get creative with your Idared and train it to an espalier shape or keep it well pruned to make harvesting the apples easier for all to reach. Idared is not self-pollinating and should have a pollinator tree nearby such as Granny Smith, Red Fuji, or Pink Lady/Cripps Pink.
How To Water
Water deeply, and regularly during its first few years in the ground. Irrigate weekly, and especially during prolonged dry spells or extreme heat after it’s established. It is essential to water your apple tree 2-3 times a week, applying the water slowly to go deeper to the root system.

How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health.. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
