Why plant Karley Rose Oriental Fountain Grass?
Pure magic. Site Karley Rose Oriental Fountain Grass so that the sunlight will stream through its fluffy pink to white plumes, and you’ll be captivated. Its precious plumes are as soft and as cute as kitten tails, and they radiate light when planted strategically. Karley Rose begins its show in late spring—much earlier than other Fringes—and continues to impress all summer and into fall. Use this charmer as an accent in the landscape beds around your home, or employ a row of plants to create a luminous low border you can view from your deck or patio.
There are many types of Fountain Grass, but Oriental Fountain Grass was kind of an undiscovered gem until Karley Rose came along. It’s hard to believe this beautiful species didn’t catch on sooner. Oriental Fountain Grass certainly isn’t a rare Fringe—its huge native range spans from central Asia to the Middle East. But when Karley Rose’s extra-large, extra-full, and particularly deep pink plumes appeared, people finally began to take notice. Connecticut nurseryman David Skwiot discovered the special plant as a chance seedling in 1994 and named it after his daughter.
How to use Karley Rose Oriental Fountain Grass in the landscape?
Calling all floral designers! Karley Rose Fountain Grass plumes make fun additions to both fresh and dried arrangements. The silky-soft kitten tails make a wonderful contrast to spiky foliage and rounded flower heads. Put a vase of Karley Rose plumes near a sunny window and watch the bouquet light up like a sparkler!

How To Plant Karley Rose Oriental Fountain Grass
Karley Rose Fountain Grass is a fast-growing Fringe that favors a warm, sunny site and well-drained soil. Do not overwater or over-fertilize, as either of these excesses can cause this Fringe to flop. Karley Rose will temporarily flop during a hard rain, but as soon as the plant dries off, it will pop back up again, good as new!
How To Water
Once established, the Karley Rose Fountain Grass is drought tolerant. However, within the first planting year, you should water deeply and thoroughly to ensure your plant develops a solid root system.
How To Fertilize
When planting, you should fertilize with the Bower & Branch Starter Plant Food to be sure that your plant is receiving the nutrients it needs to establish a healthy root system! After that, you shouldn't have to fertilize again!
How To Prune
You should leave the seed heads in place for added winter interest, as well as an important winter food source for the birds! In early spring, shear the old foliage a few inches from the ground to make way for bright new growth when warm weather arrives.
