Why plant Weeping Alaskan Cedar?
The Weeping Alaskan Cedar tree is a graceful specimen evergreen tree with a flowy form that will bring to mind a past trip to Seattle or the movie set of Twilight (vampires not included). This elegant West Coast native conifer is admired for its distinctive swooping branches draped with soft sprays of sage green foliage that sway in the breeze. Plant this mid-sized beauty near boulders, gravel, stonework, or water features for a picturesque vignette you’ll love to glimpse outside your window every day. Why plant another (yawn) Arborvitae? Punch it up instead with this uncommon evergreen with style, grace, and personality!
Most trees native to the Pacific Northwest look out of sorts when made to live in less pampered conditions than they’re used to. Not the Weeping Alaskan Cedar! Though at home on the cool, mild, rainy coasts of Alaska, Washington, and Oregon, it performs surprisingly well in the East and Midwest. It never attains the size here that wild ones do on the West Coast, but who has the space for a 100-foot-plus tree anyway? Weeping Alaskan Cedar brings that lush Northwest look to the landscape without getting out of bounds.
How to use Weeping Alaskan Cedar in the landscape?
You will be weeping tears of joy when you add this outstanding tree to your landscape. The rich evergreen branches hang from this fabulous tree producing an outstanding weeping form. This Alaskan makes an excellent accent or specimen tree. Cary Award Winner from the Worcester County Horticultural Society for its outstanding performance, hardiness, and eye-appeal.

How To Plant Weeping Alaskan Cedar
Weeping Alaskan Cedar likes lots of sunshine, though in areas where summer highs are often in the 90s, it appreciates some afternoon shade. Growth is best when given regular water, but not so much that the ground remains soggy for hours. Its roots are rather shallow, and this tree should be planted in a site that is sheltered from strong winds. Snow, it can handle. Alaskan Cedar was designed to shed precipitation of all sorts. Snow can’t grab onto the waxy sprays of foliage, hanging in long branchlets straight down.
How To Water
Immediately after planting, be sure to give your Weeping Alaskan Cedar a deep and thorough watering. Water every two to three days for the first growing season. As fall arrives, you can lessen this to every five to six days before winter sets in. Once established, the Weeping Alaskan Cedar will tolerate mild drought conditions.
How To Fertilize
Fertilize your Weeping Alaskan Cedar with the Bower & Branch Starter Plant Food when planting. Mix it in the hole before the tree is placed, and then with the soil overtop the tree. Repeat your application each spring and fall for the first three years to ensure your tree has the nutrients it needs to succeed.
How To Prune
Weeping Alaskan Cedars have a naturally weeping form, so pruning is not required to enhance it. If you would like a more compact tree, you can lightly prune to accomplish that. Pruning should take place in late winter to early spring as the tree is dormant.

Shipping Delays:
From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
