Why plant Greenspire™ Littleleaf Linden?
Greenspire™ Littleleaf Linden is a dapper tree with a densely branched, teardrop-shaped canopy that will give you a cool, shady retreat from the sun on hot summer days. In early summer, this medium to large-sized shade tree will give you the added bonus of small cream-colored flowers which smell sweet and attract pollinators from near and far. When the kids are grown, the scent of Linden blossoms will always remind them of get-togethers and outdoor meals on the patio. Also popular as a street tree, Greenspire has an alley-cat toughness once established and will make no great demands on your busy schedule.
Littleleaf Linden has been cultivated for centuries in the many European countries where it is native. In England, Lindens are called “Limes,” but don’t get too excited—this tree won’t give you limes! It’s called that because it is commonly found on limestone soils. The original Greenspire™ emerged from a batch of seeds sown in 1951. It has been around long enough to prove that it’s as tough as an old boot and a heck of a lot prettier. It was introduced by Princeton Nurseries of New Jersey in 1961.
How to use Greenspire™ Littleleaf Linden in the landscape?
Here are some key words to remember: formal, symmetrical, elegant. This tree is a beautiful example of all that and more. A lovely shade tree that bears tiny, fragrant white flowers in mid-summer. In autumn, the lush green foliage turns golden yellow. You'll love the uniform growth habit on this very adaptable tree. This Linden is the perfect addition to your yard.

How To Plant Greenspire™ Littleleaf Linden
Littleleaf Lindens are nice trees. They make good street trees, they work well in city plantings because of their pollution tolerance, and their wood is great for carving duck decoys! Littleleaf Lindens like full sun and they tolerate a range of soil conditions as well. Littleleaf Lindens do have a slight problem with aphids and Japanese Beetles. Japanese Beetles are more of a problem for this tree, and if you know that your area has a bad Japanese Beetles problem, I would recommend not planting this tree. The beetles will make the leaves “disappear” and you will be left with a bare tree. If your tree does happen to have a slight problem with either pest, contact your local Garden Center professional.
How To Water
Water twice weekly for the first 3-5 weeks; then water weekly for the remainder of the year until winter. When you water, water slowly and thoroughly. Watering needs may be altered due to extreme weather conditions.
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant Food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant Food granular form on an annual basis each late year. Continue this for three years to get your plant well established.
How To Prune
Littleleaf Lindens are moderate growers, meaning they don’t grow too fast or too slow but just right, therefore they don’t need a lot of pruning.

Please expect orders with multiple items to be delivered over a number of days as a result. Orders made up of numerous items or selections will not arrive at your home on the same day.
Shipping Delays:
From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
