Why plant Young's Weeping Birch?
Young's Weeping Birch gives you the look of a Weeping Willow tree, but on a smaller scale that's more in tune with modest-sized gardens. Like Weeping Willow, this fast-growing ornamental tree is pure poetry, from the rhythmic rise and fall of its limber branches to the way the diamond-shaped leaves flutter and twirl in the wind. Its graceful habit inspires a feeling of serenity. Plant this Weeping Birch tree in an island bed or mixed border near the entrance to your home and let its natural elegance speak the language of tree to say, "Welcome." Landscape lighting directed at its bright white bark will extend the invitation after dusk.
Young’s Weeping Birch is a selection of Silver Birch, an opportunistic tree appearing first on the scene after forest fires. The species’ natural range extends all the way from the U.K. to Siberia, and its wood is used to make furniture, veneer, plywood, and skis. The selection ‘Youngii’ has been around so long that no one is really sure exactly who first discovered it, though it is believed to have originated in England around 1873. (We’re going to guess it was found in the nursery or garden of someone named “Young.”)
How to use Young's Weeping Birch in the landscape?
Grab your tissues! The beauty of this Weeping Birch will bring tears to your eyes! Not only does this dramatic weeper have slender hanging branches but also snowy white exfoliating bark, which will have your neighbors weeping because you got one before they did!

How To Plant Young's Weeping Birch
The Weeping White Birch is a beautiful specimen that needs to be planted in full sun to light shade. It requires moist, well-drained soil to reach optimum growth potential and to keep it nice and healthy. There are common pest problems with birch trees, and while some improved varieties are more resistant to these pests, the Weeping Birch, unfortunately, is not one of them. The main pest problems with this tree are bronze birch borer and birch leaf miner. Keeping your tree healthy from the start can prevent bronze birch borers. This means planting your tree in the right location, having proper soil drainage, fertilizing, etc. It has been proven that borers are unsuccessful in attacking healthy trees. The birch leaf miner is another pest that if left untreated will cause a good amount of damage to the leaves that will then cause stress to the tree. This stress will make it easier for the bronze birch borer to attack as well. Leaf miners are small sawflies that lay eggs in the new foliage of the birch tree. The young then feed off of the inside of the leaves, leaving “mines” which will be the visual evidence of the problem.
How To Water
Young's Weeping Birch will appreciate regular water during its first few years in the ground and irrigation during long dry spells after it’s established.
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant food granular form into the soil when planting. For the first 3 years or so, apply a medium rate fertilizer in the fall. This once-a-year application supplies your tree with essential nutrients that promote healthy new growth for the following spring season.

Shipping Delays:
From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
