Why plant North Pole® Arborvitae in Bulk?
Let's take a brief moment and look at the name Arborvitae. The common name meaning “tree of life”, comes from French settlers in North America who had been taught by Native Americans that the foliage of the Arb can be used to treat scurvy. The North Pole® Arborvitae is a dense, pyramidal, evergreen tree with its roots based in the northern Midwest over to the east coast. The North Pole® Arb provides dark green foliage that is scale-like and very aromatic.
The cultivar known as North Pole® Arborvitae originated in Faribault, Minnesota in 1998 as a cross between Thuja Occidentalis (Wintergreen) and an unknown male. This tree is capable of reaching heights of 10-15’ tall and about 5-7’ wide, and offers tolerance to a variety of soil types as well as air pollution. Maintaining its evergreen status, these trees do wonders by adding color to a normally bleak and gray winter landscape!

How To Plant North Pole® Arborvitae in Bulk
The North Pole Arborvitae® offers adaptability to most soil types, but they enjoy a well draining soil most! While your Arb will enjoy a location that receives full sun, allow for some light shade in the afternoon during the hot summer. You will want to avoid areas that provide heavy shade, for this may cause a lack of density in the foliage.
How To Water
When first planted and until it's established, maintain a watering schedule that will allow the soil to be kept moist. Achieve this by watering deeply, twice a week for the first few months. As time progresses, lesson your watering to once a week until fully established.
How To Fertilize
When planning to fertilize your tree, it would be best to do so in early spring before the push of new growth. Here at Bower and Branch, we offer our Elements Starter Plant Food to meet all your fertilizer needs.
How To Prune
You're in luck! The North Pole® Arborvitae normally does not require pruning, however, during the summer months you may give a quick shearing to maintain shape if you so desire.

Your trees and plants are grown across the United States at various Bower & Branch Growers. Depending on your location, your plant orders may be shipped from various locations. How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
