Willamette is an early-fruited raspberry plant. They were developed by the Oregon breeding program in the early 1940s and been named the most popular raspberries in all of America.

How to use Willamette Red Raspberry in the landscape?

Willamette Red Raspberries work nicely in your backyard in clusters with other berry bushes or other kinds of filler plants. Plant your berry bushes wherever it is more convenient for you as long as they have access to full sun. These fruity little shrubs work fantastically as barrier plants for a landscape. Perfect for creating a hedge for privacy to keep away unwanted visitors and eyes. These bushes can create a hedge that acts as a safe-haven for songbirds and small wildlife as it provides many little hiding spots.

Planting Zones

Hardiness Zone: 4-8

How To Plant Willamette Red Raspberry

Plant your Red Raspberries in fertile, well-drained soil so they aren't constantly submerged in water. They perform best in full sun and plenty of water when blossoms begin.

How To Water

It is important to deeply water your Red Raspberries regularly during its first growing season.

How To Fertilize

Incorporate Elements Starter Plant Food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant Food granular form on an annual basis each fall. If planting in the fall, use Elements fertilizer while planting and start your regular annual fertilizing the following fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established as it gives your tree the nutrients it needs to produce lush new growth for the following spring.

How To Prune

These raspberry bushes will produce on their second year, so after your first harvest, prune away the older canes so the newer ones can grow no issue.
