Why plant Forever Goldy® Arborvitae?
Like a golden ray of sunshine you say? Absolutely! C'mon it's in the name - Forever Goldy®. Radiating its yellow-green hue this Arb is a must have for any landscape. Offering a luxurious golden color year round, the Forever Goldy® makes a perfect focal point in any landscape. Often, we see this tree used as a specimen planting, or to break up the usual monochromatic green gardens of the everyday household.
Forever Goldy® originated at a Dutch nursery in 2002. Owner Andreas J.M. Luijten looked out at a crop of ‘Martin’ Arborvitae Trees one day and noticed that one didn’t have green foliage like all the rest, but was a brilliant yellow. The new plant was just a lucky mutant that appeared by chance. Other Western Arborvitaes with gold variegation have been introduced in the past, but none has had such bright and long-lasting color. This exciting new plant has become very trendy and is in high demand by professional garden designers.

How To Plant Forever Goldy® Arborvitae
We at Bower & Branch recommend planting your new Forever Goldy® in any site that offers lots of sun to curate the best golden color possible. When it comes to soil, Forever Goldy® is quite adaptable, although it won’t tolerate extremely wet or extremely dry conditions. Mulch well to keep the root zone cool and moist.
How To Water
Watering is fairly simple we recommend doing so weekly until established. We would recommend using our Elements Watering System to make watering hassle free.
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant Food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant Food granular form on an annual basis each fall. If planting in the fall, use Elements fertilizer while planting and start your regular annual fertilizing the following fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established as it gives your tree the nutrients it needs to produce lush new growth for the following spring.
How To Prune
We recommend pruning in late spring to early summer before the new growth of the year depending on how and where you have your tree planted.
