The name 'Mount Airy' comes from the Arboretum in Cincinnati where this cultivar was discovered by plantsman Mike Dirr. He curated the cross we all know and love today!

When planting this fella in your landscape, you'll want to plant it in an area where it can reach full sun with some shade, as they love those sun rays but will also love a shade break. This shrub prefers to thrive in any well-draining soil types that are slightly acidic. Plant this shrub somewhere they can achieve its full height and width potential, you'll love this beauty living in your yard.
How To Water
For a new Fothergilla, you'll want to provide a moderate amount of water regularly, this helps the plant become established in a new home. After establishment, you'll want to give your tree supplemental water if there is an extended drought.
How To Fertilize
When fertilizing the Fothergilla, it is best done three to four times a year, starting in April and ending in mid-July. We recommend using our Elements Starter Plant Food when feeding your happy little plants!
How To Prune
When the Mount Airy Fothergilla has been allowed to grow to its full potential, pruning and upkeep will be minimal. Only prune out dead or misdirected branches. Prune only in the late spring, after it has flowered.
