Blakes Pride was named after Dr. Roland Blake, who participated in the USDA pear breeding program at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center from 1967 to 1984.
How to use Blake's Pride European Pear in the landscape?
Blake's Pride is blight-resistant and they don't mind the heat either! "Pears" well with Bartlett, Harrow Delight, and Warren for pollinating. Make sure to harvest in early September with a basket full of goodness! Blake's Pride European Pear is the perfect pear tree to use in orchard settings, or simply as a single specimen! You can add them to your front or side gardens as an accent to your garden beds.

How To Plant Blake's Pride European Pear
Plant your Blakes Pride European Pear Tree where it can bask in all-day sun and enjoy moderately rich, well-drained soil at its feet. Avoid low-lying areas, where late frosts can zap the early spring blossoms. You’ll need to have another variety of Pear nearby to pollinate the blooms and enable good fruit set. Irrigate using the Elements™ Watering System and feed your tree with Elements™ Fertilizer to ensure that it gets the right amount of moisture and nutrients when it needs them. Proper maintenance is critical in growing Pears to ensure a healthy harvest!

Water your Pear tree about 2 times a week, be sure to soak the root system entirely.
How To Fertilize
Typically, pear trees will take fertilization as needed after bud break, but by no means any later than July. We recommend using our Elements Starter Plant Food.

When pruning the Blake's Pride, prune to keep the canopy open so sunlight and airflow can reach the interior branches.

Your trees and plants are grown across the United States at various Bower & Branch Growers. Depending on your location, your plant orders may be shipped from various locations. How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
