Why plant Bobo® Hydrangea in Bulk?

A hydrangea in dwarf form, who knew? Bobo® Hardy Hydrangea is the new kid on the block that is sure to turn heads with it's smaller stature and stunning blooms. Like most hydrangeas, Bobo® provides large bloom clusters until the first frost hits and plants begin to go dormant. Summer sees the classical white flower clusters that are a trademark of hydrangeas, however, Bobo® clusters turn a pale or blush pink in the fall which really sets these hydrangea blooms apart. Even though Bobo® is a dwarf, the bloom clusters continue to grow and become larger as they open. A great addition to any landscape, especially those landscapes that need a cluster of flowers on a smaller frame!

Bobo® is a fun hydrangea that was developed by plant breeder John Van Huylenbroeck. Huylenbroeck is the same breeder that brought to us the Pinky Winky® Hydrangea which is beloved for its large, two toned bloom panicles. Bobo® was selected and grown for its small, dwarf stature and its extra large bloom panicles that change color with age. Flowers completely engulf this shrub, from the top to the ground, making this one of the best dwarf hydrangeas on the market.

How to use Bobo® Hydrangea in Bulk in the landscape?

Large white bloom clustered panicles completely cover the dwarf frame of the Bobo® Hydrangea. There are more than enough flowers to go around for the pollinators and for you to enjoy. As the flowers age, the blooms turn from a bright white to a pale pink that adds the touch of color needed for any sunny fall location. The foliage is equally as stunning, providing large, deep green leaves for the panicles to nestle in as they bloom and release a beautiful fragrance around the landscape.

How To Plant Bobo® Hydrangea in Bulk

Bobo® enjoys being sited in a location where it can soak up the sun's rays but it does appreciate some shade in climates that tend to experience hotter temperatures. You'll want to be sure that Bobo® receives at least a half day of full sun, otherwise the flower display will not be as significant. This hydrangea does enjoy have a consistent watering schedule and well-draining soil.

How To Water

Bobo® Hydrangea's will need a moderate amount of water on a regular basis, they like their soil to be moist but not overly saturated.

How To Fertilize

If your Bobo® is planted in rich soil then it will do just fine without fertilization. If soil is poor and your plant is just begging to be fed, we recommend using our Elements Starter Plant Food for a boost in the springtime.

How To Prune

Prune your Bobo® in the late winter or early spring, remove last year's flower heads and prune back the stems.
