Why plant Hyslop Edible Crabapple Bare Root?
Attention all homemade Cider brewers! If you haven't already, you may want to consider adding the Hyslop Edible Crabapple to your home orchard. This gem of an heirloom was first recorded in 1869 and is a tried and true producer of worthy Crabapples! While we wouldn't recommend eating them fresh off the tree (try that at your own risk!), these highly acidic and tannin-rich fruits are glorious additions to hard ciders. They are also frequently used in jellies, pickles, and sauces but don't wait too long - while these deeply crimson red fruits are juicy when ripe, they quickly become dry and mealy if not used or stored properly. With the added bonus of beautiful white blooms in the Spring, you simply can't go wrong with planting this gem!

Hardiness Zone: 4-8
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant food granular form on an annual basis each late fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established.
