Why plant Kudos Gold Hyssop?

Bring hummingbirds to your garden with the sunny golden blooms of Kudos Gold. These sunny blooms will continue to sprout from summer to fall, bringing color to where ever they are located. Compact and hardy, Kudos Gold has a lot to offer in a small package. Kudos Gold sends up shoots of golden spikes out of the low green foliage, a low mounded grower. These spikes will bloom and be attractive from early summer into the fall with continuous blooming. Hummingbirds love to visit and feed off Kudos Gold; this Spirit is known as Hummingbird Mint for a reason!

Kudos Gold comes from a hiking trip in an Eastern Oregon desert where Agastache cusickii was found growing in a crack of a rock. From there, a sample was taken and bred with Agastache aurantiaca. Four generations later, the Agastache 'Kudos' line was created, and from there, Kudos Gold was born.

How To Plant Kudos Gold Hyssop

Kudos Gold enjoys being planted in soil that is well-draining with medium-average moisture. Although Kudos Gold prefers full sun, it can still tolerate some minimal shade. It is vital that the soil drains very well; otherwise, Kudos Gold will not thrive as it does not appreciate wet feet.

How To Water

Water as soon as Kudos Gold arrives! Hyssop plants need to be watered regularly to maintain evenly moist soil for best establishment.

How To Fertilize

When planting, be sure to apply the Bower & Branch Elements Starter Plant Food into the soil as you plant. This will help your Hyssop as it works to become established. After that, repeat the application each spring as it breaks dormancy!

How To Prune

Trim plants once or twice before flowering to encourage bushy growth, if desired. This may delay blooming, but will make for fuller, more compact plants that are less likely to need staking. Deadhead spent blooms to keep your Kudos Gold looking fresh. With Hyssops, it’s best to wait until late winter to cut the old stems back. After new growth emerges is the time for clean-up.
