Why Plant Mountain Gordlinia?
You'll be floored when the Gordlinia flowers open up and the honey bees swarm to the sweet nectar hidden inside. A distinctive, small ornamental tree, Gordlinia offers stunningly perfect white blooms that fit in wonderfully in any landscape. The loveliness of this tree will ensnare the attention of anyone who comes to visit, and the sweet fragrance will waft around attracting pollinators and people alike. Semi-evergreen, you'll be able to enjoy this tree year-round in any sized landscape.
Gordlinia is an interesting hybrid that was conceived from the Franklinia and the Gordonia trees. Developed in the early 2000's by Ranney and Frantz from the North Carolina Deptarment of Horticultural Science, these horticulturalists worked hard to bring two hard-to-come-by trees together to make one. Gordlinia is the best of both worlds taking on the semi-evergreen characteristics from Gordonia, and the lovely flowers from the Franklinia tree.
How to use Mountain Gordlinia in the landscape?
Gordlinia is a splendid small ornamental tree that adds greenery and flowers to any landscape. It's small size allows this tree to fit in any landscape, big or small, without crowding the area and allowing plenty of room for other trees and plants. The semi-evergreen foliage allows for the bright green foliage to add a touch of green in dormant times such as the fall and winter, as well as keeping the landscape green during the growing seasons. Late summer flowers bloom in August and draw in pollinators with their sweet fragrance and promise of sweet nectar. The five-petalled flowers are beautiful and are a simple but beautiful addition to the landscape.

How To Plant Mountain Gordlinia
Gordlinia can be grown as either a small tree or a large shrub, it all depends on how it is pruned and the preference of the grower. Pruning should be completed during the winter when the tree is dormant. This tree does enjoy being located in full sun and well-draining soil. It's small size allows this tree to be located near a patio or sitting area where this tree can be best enjoyed by all who visit the landscape.
How To Water
Water regularly after initial planting. Once established, they are more tolerant of drought conditions, reducing your hand-watering responsibilities.
How To Fertilize
During fall, feed your Gordlinia Bower & Branch Elements Fertilizer once a year for about the first 3 or 4 years - this will give your tree all the nutrients it needs.
How To Prune
Gordlinias should be pruned so that dead branches and twigs that may be diseased can be removed. Do not compost any disease branches, dispose of them appropriately in the garbage.

How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
