Why plant Weeping Flowering Cherry?
If you’re impatient to get some color into your landscape, then the Higan Weeping Cherry tree is your best bet. This fast-growing, ornamental tree quickly becomes a mid-sized specimen tree worthy of showcasing in your front yard landscaping. Bubblegum-pink flowers line the branches in spring, and although those frilly Cherry blossoms steal the show, the fall foliage is nice, too, hanging from the framework of branches like a golden cloak. You can give this weeping tree a neat haircut if you like, or you can let its willowy extensions brush the ground—in which case the kids are sure to discover the magical underneath the canopy.
Most of the ornamental cherry trees that we see today originated in Japan, including this classic weeping form. This is a long-lived tree—in fact, one Weeping Cherry in Northern Japan, called Taki-Zakura (Waterfall Cherry), is over 1,000 years old! It is considered by many to be the most beautiful tree in all of Japan. Weeping Cherries are propagated by grafting. Our high-graft trees are grafted onto another cherry species five feet from the ground. This is the traditional Weeping Cherry Tree, with a straight, clean trunk free of lower branches.
How to use Weeping Flowering Cherry in the landscape?
A true beacon of spring! I don't know what more you could want to help you welcome spring each and every year. This beautiful weeping tree is just covered with double pink blossoms giving you the illusion of a pink waterfall in the garden! You just can't beat it - be sure to include one in your garden. Already have one? Why stop there? The more, the merrier!

How To Plant Weeping Flowering Cherry
Weeping Flowering Cherry thrives in any sunny location in most types of soil, except those that stay wet. This is a grafted tree, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for suckers coming up from the base of the tree or growing straight up from the trunk—prune these out immediately. You’ll also want to watch out for Japanese beetles, which may chew on Weeping Cherry leaves in summer. They may be picked off by hand or controlled with chemicals or organic sprays. Please don’t hesitate to ask our tree care specialists here at Bower & Branch™ for advice on the pest control plan that works best for you!
How To Water
Flowering Cherry will appreciate watering deeply, and regularly during its first few years in the ground. Irrigate weekly, and especially during long dry spells or extreme heat after it’s established.
How To Fertilize
Incorporate Elements Starter Plant food granular form into the soil when planting. If planting in spring or summer, start fertilizing late fall using Elements Starter Plant food granular form on an annual basis each late fall. Continue this for the first three years to get your plant well established.

Please expect orders with multiple items to be delivered over a number of days as a result. Orders made up of numerous items or selections will not arrive at your home on the same day.
Shipping Delays:
From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
