Why Plant Emerald Gaiety Euonymus?
Multi-season interest of evergreen, variegated foliage and red berries in fall! If this sounds good to you, then the Emerald Gaiety Euonymus is the one for you! This slow growing shrub reaches about 5’ in height and spreads almost 6’ in width. Sporting small, dark emerald green foliage laced with white margins, the Emerald Gaiety Euonymus fits in perfectly wherever it can be found. In early summer we can see small inconspicuous blooms of white flowers that are the prelude to red berries that form in fall and are loved by songbirds. Speaking of fall, the outlined white margins of the foliage tend to gain a pinkish tinge before the start of winter. This shrub does have the ability to be trained to climb given a trellis or wall to attach to!
How to use Emerald Gaiety Euonymus in the landscape?
With a name like Wintercreeper, you would think it would be something dark and creepy, but that's not the case here! The Emerald Gaiety Euonymus has the ability to climb if planted near something it is capable of attaching to! Training your shrub with a trellis or to climb a wall can elevate the visual aspect of your property.

How To Plant Emerald Gaiety Euonymus
The Emerald Gaiety Euonymus prefers a location that experiences full sun as this will give you the best growing capabilities. However, this shrub is capable of thriving in areas that offer partial shade and this will assist with the variegation. These shrubs grow in most soil types but they do prefer soils more on the alkaline side. So you may want to test your soil and amend it as necessary. Take note, if water can be found sitting stagnant where you have it planted, it could be an issue over time. With the given tolerance to urban pollution and some drought tolerance, locations for planting are vast.
How To Water
Now that you have your Emerald Gaiety Euonymus planted, it's time to water! Simply water no less than twice a week until established. Once established, this shrub does provide drought tolerance. However, it would be within your best interest and for the health of the plant to water when necessary. Stick your finger in the soil and test to see if it is dry, if so water accordingly. We do recommend keeping an eye on your local weather for periods of inclement weather such as high heat and drought and watering as needed.
How To Fertilize
It's feeding time! This is fairly simple when considering the process for the Emerald Gaiety Euonymus as it's not a heavy feeder. If you are planting in the spring, apply fertilizer to the planting site. Next, you may apply fertilizer again in the fall as this will provide much needed nutrients throughout the winter season. Now, the next time you will want to feed would be the following fall. Continue this process for the life of the plant and enjoy a lively, healthy, shrub!
How To Prune
The Emerald Gaiety Euonymus doesn't require much pruning. Simply remove any dead or damaged branches you see. You will also want to trim away any reverted branches (these are spots where the variegation is no longer visible). If you are looking to shape your Emerald Gaiety Euonymus this process may be done immediately after the blooms so as to not hinder the ability to pollinate.

How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
