Why Plant Goldflame Spirea?

The bronze-red colored leaves of the Goldflame Spirea that emerge in spring after the long cold winter will be one of the many reasons why you’ll love this plant. Early in the summer, you’ll see cloud-like pink flowers that decorate this bush, then summer brings the most beautiful of bright yellows and greens until the main show arrives. Fall, something you’ve been waiting for all year, beautiful copper tones with loud hints of orange make their way to the stage. Spireas are simple, but this one gives its very best to bring beauty to your garden. With its moderately fast growth rate, you’ll be able to enjoy this plant blooming sooner than you thought. Not only is this plant rather easy to take care of, but it's also GOOD for your garden! Goldflame Spireas attract pollinators like bees and butterflies to add more life to your home!

How to use Goldflame Spirea in the landscape?

Goldflame Spirea plants want and should be seen, they make amazing additions to gardens anywhere. Use them as a low hedge with other spirea plants or decorate any walkways or entryways. Plant them in pots and add them to your porch or patio seating area to add some color. These plants attract butterflies so they work perfectly in butterfly gardens!

How To Plant Goldflame Spirea

Goldflame Spireas need a good home to live in. They prefer to be planted somewhere they can reach full sun conditions—who doesn’t love a good sunbathe! These Spireas are adaptable to a wide variety of soil types, but anything well-draining is preferred. These plants are known for their heat tolerance—with a little moisture on the soil, these plants can go a long way with immense heat.

How To Water

Brand new Spirea will need a maintained watering schedule to help get established. Once the plant has matured, it will acquire some drought tolerance. Even with this tolerance, this Spirea will still need some slightly moist soil.

How To Fertilize

Mr. Goldflame does not really require much feeding. Although, light feeding is recommended for the growth of your plant. In the spring, we recommend giving your Spirea our Elements Starter Plant Food in granular form for an extra springtime boost!

How To Prune

This little fella will not need much pruning to keep its attractive shape! The plant blooms on new wood, so it is best to do a little cleaning up in the late winter or early spring while the shrub is still dormant for the winter. Remove any dead, diseased, or weak branches. In the summer, you’ll want to remove any old flowers to help your plant direct its nutrients to where it's needed! When you get the older blooms out of the way, there is a greater chance for a second bloom!

*For Big trees and Shrubs, Size XL and bigger: Review our Seasonal Shipping Timelines and Policy here.

Your trees and plants are grown across the United States at various Bower & Branch Growers. Depending on your location, your plant orders may be shipped from various locations. Please expect orders with multiple items to be delivered over a number of days as a result. Orders made up of numerous items or selections will not arrive at your home on the same day.

Shipping Delays:

From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.

How Does Sizing Work?

The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)

Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.

All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
