Bower & Branch Landscape Design Tip:

Dogwoods love being the “star” without being roasted by afternoon sun. Aim for morning sun and afternoon shade, then underplant with low, shade-friendly layers to keep the roots cool and the base looking finished. Bonus: a simple ring of dark evergreen shrubs nearby makes those white blooms look even crisper, like fresh linen in spring.

Why Plant Kay's Appalachian Mist Flowering Dogwood?

This is the dogwood for people who love tradition, but also love a little peace of mind. You get the classic spring display, crisp white bracts lighting up the branches just as the season turns, plus that iconic dogwood silhouette that always looks like it belongs. But ‘Kay’s Appalachian Mist’ brings something extra behind the scenes: it was selected with stronger resistance to common dogwood diseases, making it a particularly smart choice in regions where humidity can make dogwoods a little… dramatic.

From spring bloom to summer foliage, then into warm fall color and a graceful winter silhouette, it’s a tree that earns its spot year-round. Think of it as classic dogwood beauty, with a sturdier, more reliable personality, like the friend who’s always calm in a group text.

How to use Kay's Appalachian Mist Flowering Dogwood in the landscape?

Plant it where you’ll enjoy the spring bloom show up close, near an entry walk, along a driveway curve, or outside a favorite window. It’s especially happy in part shade, tucked under taller trees or along woodland edges where it creates a layered, natural look and avoids harsh afternoon sun. Use it as a focal point in foundation plantings, pairing it with hydrangeas, azaleas, ferns, hostas, and heuchera for a classic understory palette. For the brightest display, place it near evergreens or darker shrubs so the white blooms stand out, and give it a mulched root zone to keep moisture consistent and the tree comfortable.

Your trees and plants are grown across the United States at various Bower & Branch Growers. Depending on your location, your plant orders may be shipped from various locations. Please expect orders with multiple items to be delivered over a number of days as a result. Orders made up of numerous items or selections will not arrive at your home on the same day.

Shipping Delays:

From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.

How Does Sizing Work?

The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)

Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.

All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
