Bower & Branch Landscape Design Tip

Plant Mars Grape in full sun with rich, well-drained soil for best results. Space vines about eight feet apart and provide sturdy support such as a trellis, arbor, or fence. Prune annually in late winter to remove old wood and encourage vigorous new growth that produces the best fruit. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish deep roots, then reduce watering once mature. Mars is self-pollinating, so you only need one plant to enjoy a full harvest. Its hardiness, reliability, and sweet flavor make it a favorite for both beginners and experienced gardeners.

Why Plant Mars Seedless Grape?

Dark, velvety burgundy-purple like satin ornaments! This decadent color can add so much to the landscape as a single vine can produce enough new growth every year to roof an arbor, arch walkway, or shade trellis! Cut a few bundles of those plum-colored grapes down, stomp your feet, and get ready to sip on some homemade wine this summer! Mars Seedless Grapes is a vigorous grower withstanding powdery mildew & black rot! Beauty, function, and strength! I heard it through the grapevine, that Mars grapes can live for over 50 years in your gardens; I think we are all ready for this jelly!

How to use Mars Seedless Grape in the landscape?

Hot summer days have never looked so good! Mars Seedless Grape loves and thrives growing on hot summer days. This seedless grape is a vigorous grower that produces high yields of medium-sized slip-skin grapes. Slip skin grapes are grapes whose skin easily peels from the flesh, making these grapes great for making wine. The flavor of Mars grapes is similar to that of Concord. However, Mars ripens in late September, early October.

Planting Zones

Hardiness Zone: 5-8

How To Plant Mars Seedless Grape

Mars will thrive in soil that is rich in humus, loamy, well-draining with average moisture levels. This grape can tolerate various types of garden soils as long as the soil has good drainage. When planting, you will want to make sure that Mars is not located in a frost pocket or an area that is unprotected from damaging winter winds. This self-pollinating variety can handle harsh weather if located in the Eastern to the Midwestern US. Mars will need special care in terms of training on a trellis, regular pruning sessions, and regular spraying sessions to achieve the highest yields possible.

How To Water

Water twice weekly for the first 3-5 weeks; then water weekly for the remainder of the year until winter. When you water, water very slowly and very thoroughly. The water needs to reach to the bottom of the root ball and that takes time. Watering needs may be altered due to extreme weather conditions.

How To Prune

Pruning on your Grape should occur during winter.

Shipping Delays:

From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.

How Does Sizing Work?

The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)

Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.

All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
