Why Plant Reliance Peach?

We’re all familiar with Georgia peaches, but New Hampshire peaches? The Reliance Peach Tree from New Hampshire makes it possible for backyard growers in cold climates to enjoy the pleasures of peach-growing just like their friends in the South. This mini tree will take up little room in your garden and doesn’t need another tree to pollinate it, making it perfect for homeowners who want to try fruit-growing, but don’t have a lot of space to devote to it. In late summer, you’ll harvest plenty of juicy, sweet, freestone Reliance peaches for pies, cobblers, and canning—not to mention fresh, healthy snacking. If you garden north of the Mason-Dixon Line, y’all need to check this tree out!

The Reliance Peach Tree emerged from a fruit tree breeding project at the Agricultural Extension Station in Durham, New Hampshire in the 1950s. It was a seedling of a tree that resulted from a cross between an extra-hardy Minnesota Peach Tree and a Peach variety from Meredith, New Hampshire. At five years old, the brand new tree got its first real test. In January of 1961, frigid weather descended upon the test plot, and the mercury fell to -25°F. For most of the Peach Trees, this was too much to take—their flower buds froze, and the crops were lost that year. However, the hardy little Reliance Peach bloomed nicely and produced a bushel of fruit that summer.

How to use Reliance Peach in the landscape?

Not only a practical addition to your landscape that will put food on your table, the Reliance Peach Tree is beautiful as well, offering up lovely pink Peach Tree blossoms in spring to decorate your garden.

How To Plant Reliance Peach

Peaches are relatively short lived compared to other trees, but with proper care, your Reliance Peach Tree will give you many years of enjoyment. Plant it in a sunny spot with good air circulation all around. The soil should be fertile and well-drained—Peach Trees won’t tolerate “wet feet.” Regular water and fertilizer will help your tree develop a strong root system, which is vital to tree health. Mulch the area around the tree with bark or wood chips to keep the ground beneath it cool and moist.

Please expect orders with multiple items to be delivered over a number of days as a result. Orders made up of numerous items or selections will not arrive at your home on the same day.

Shipping Delays:

From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.

How Does Sizing Work?

The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)

Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.

All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
