Why Plant Show Time™ Crabapple?
Lights, camera, ACTION! The new Show Time™ Flowering Crabapple Tree will put on a crowd-pleasing production in your garden, complete with delightful scene changes throughout the year. In spring, the drama unfolds outside your window with practically fluorescent fuchsia blossoms that will draw rave reviews from guests and neighbors (not to mention from thosevaluable pollinators). In fall, the foliage will take on warm hues of gold and orange before stepping aside to give the pretty polished red crabapples the stage to themselves. The fruits last most of the winter, until they are finally soft and sweet enough for the songbirds to swoop in and devour them in the final act. Bravo! Show Time™ Crabapple got its big break in Perry, Ohio, where it was discovered and introduced by Lake County Nursery. LCN is known for its hardy, strong-performing plant introductions, and Crabapples are one of their specialties. To make the cut, the folks at Lake County look for Crabs with “superiority in disease resistance, foliage, flower, and form, in that order.” Other growers have also given Show Time™ two thumbs up, and many even prefer it to the popular Prairie FireCrabapple, which has a similar vibrant pink flower color. Although Show Time™ is a showstopper in the landscape, it’s no diva. It shows good resistance to the diseases that may affect Crabs, and it’s tough enough to handle winters in Maine and Minnesota.
How to use Show Time™ Crabapple in the landscape?
Cedar waxwings are especially fond of Crabapple fruits, and if you’re lucky, you may be treated to a special show of these lovely, distinctive birds making a meal of Show Time™ Crabapples. When the fruits are gone, you can always hang a birdfeeder from its branches and let the show go on!
How To Plant Show Time™ Crabapple
Sugar Tyme™ Crabapple is an excellent tree for the novice gardener—it’s simple to grow and will only get bigger and more beautiful with each passing year. This is a tree that likes an open, sunny area with good air circulation. It isn’t picky about soil and will even grow in heavy clay. Sugar Tyme™ will need regular irrigation if rain is lacking while it gets settled into your landscape, so keep it supplied with water for the first year or two. Not too much! It doesn’t appreciate sitting in wet soil. Pruning needs will be minimal. This selection naturally attains a balanced, upright-pyramidal form on its own.

Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.
How Does Sizing Work?
The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)
Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.
All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
