Why Plant Sunrise European Pear?

The Sunrise Pear is a luxury for any home, producing vibrant yellow pears that are buttery, sweet, and best of all - juicy! In early spring, these wonderful trees bloom with excitement, offering white flowers before the yields of the year. While in bloom, the Sunrise Pear invites butterflies to dance around the landscapes. Something interesting to be noted is that pears do not ripen on the trees they must be harvested and left to ripen off the tree and stored correctly!

The Sunrise Pear is a cross of Doyenné du Comice and the Bartlett Pear, created by H.J. Brooks in 1965 after he had revived the USDA pear breeding program that was originally created by Merton Waite in 1908. The Sunrise Pear, unlike other varieties of pear, is early to mature while also maintaining a long shelf-life. Like other fruiting trees, depending on your style, these trees are prized more for their ability to fruit over their visual attributes.

How to use Sunrise European Pear in the landscape?

The Sunshine Pear has resistance to some diseases that effect other fruiting trees, such as fire blight, as well as pear scab. This Pear, like others, does require a pollinator to be nearby for best fruit production. Some varieties that we offer that can be utilized as a pollinator are Bartlett, Red Bartlett, as well as Magness Pear!

How To Plant Sunrise European Pear

The Sunrise European Pear grows best with full sun, well draining soil, and mild pruning attention during its dormancy - this tree makes for a wonderful provider of fresh fruit in any garden or home orchard!

How To Water

During the early years, before the tree is fully established, we recommend watering twice a week for lighter, more sandy soil types. In clay like soil, once a week will do fine.

How To Fertilize

When growing the Sunrise European Pear, we recommend fertilizing once a year in spring, before the fruiting season. We recommend using our Elements Starter Plant Food for best growth and fruit production!

How To Prune

When pruning your Sunrise European Pear, we advise doing so in late winter or early spring, pruning away any dieback or damaged branches that may have accrued over the winter months.

Shipping Delays:

From time to time, Bower & Branch Growers may determine to delay order shipment based on various factors for plant health. Weather in your region, as well as, where your plants are grown, is always considered when shipping. Extreme weather conditions may delay some or all of your order. Bower & Branch allows our Growers to make final shipping decisions based solely to benefit your trees and plants’ health and success.

How Does Sizing Work?

The size of our trees have nothing to do with the container size like you may find elsewhere–big doesn't mean just height - it’s also vigor, age, and overall health. Other online retailers are going to tell you that a plant is a seven gallon, that means nothing to your tree or plant (or you.)

Our trees for sale online are graded on large, x-large, and even bigger sizes. This is because our trees are sized by their age—the higher the letter, the more mature the tree. The age determines the trees’ overall height, size of the trunk and the overall branch density.

All of these characteristics are what you should be looking for when choosing a tree for immediate impact and instant curb appeal. Our extra-large tree and plant sizes are sure to wow you and your neighbors!
